Sinopsisi

 

The Laceland is the first of three interconnected stories, collectively entitled Midsummer Midwinter, which tell of the beginnings of Shetland traditions in the interaction of the human and natural worlds. In The Laceland, the incomer Sigrid, aided by a great seal and a helpful local spider, learns to spin an island of lace as a home for herself and her family, using the fine wool of the land, a web of water from the sea and the wind. In The Star and the Tree, a young mother is taught by the spider to make a covering in Fair Isle patterning to protect her child and the future of her people. The Song of Selkie is a seal-child’s warning, through the medium of myth and fiddle music, of the loss of the traditional way of life.

 

Zemlja čipki je prva od tri međusobno povezane priče, pod zajedničkim nazivom Sred ljeta, sred zime, koje govore o prapočecima šetlandskih običaja koji se odnose na interakciju svijeta ljudi sa svijetom prirode. U Zemlji čipki došljakinja Sigrid uz pomoć velikog tuljana i susretljivog lokalnog pauka uči presti otok od čipke kao dom za sebe i svoju obitelj, koristeći finu vunu od zemlje, mrežu od vode iz mora i vjetar. U Zvijezdi i stablu pauk poučava mladu majku kako napraviti pokrivač po uzorku Fair Isle da bi njime zaštitila svoje dijete i budućnost svog naroda. U Selkie pjeva mladunče tuljana nas putem mita i guslačke glazbe upozorava na gubitak tradicionalnog načina života.

 

 

The Carpet Weavers began as a short story in English. It was translated into Croatian and then dramatised as a Croatian radio play. This play, in its turn, influenced the dramatisation of the story as a radio play in English; the two plays are similar but distinct. Finally, the Croatian radio play was transformed into a stage play, which was then translated into English and includes a stage direction in the form of a poem, originally in English and subsequently translated into Croatian. The play has been produced in both of its Croatian forms: the radio play first broadcast 25.12.2012, Croatian Radio 3; the stage play produced 23.01.2017 as a public performance examination at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, University of Zagreb.

 

The story follows a young boy as he leaves the poverty of his traditional rural home to work in a carpet factory. The twists and turns of his life take him from bonded apprentice in virtual slavery in an Asian city to American college student and finally a return to his roots. Though the journey may seem tragic, there is a guiding presence which is ultimately uplifting.

 

Tkalci tepiha započeli su kao kratka priča na engleskom jeziku. Prevedena je na hrvatski, a zatim dramatizirana i izvedena kao radio drama na Hrvatskom radiju. Ova je drama, potom, potaknula dramatizaciju priče za radio dramu na engleskom jeziku; ove su dvije drame slične, no ipak različite. Naposljetku je hrvatska radio drama preoblikovana u scensku predstavu, koja je potom prevedena na engleski jezik, a ovome prijevodu su nadodane i scenske upute u obliku pjesme, izvorno na engleskom jeziku, a potom su prevedene na hrvatski jezik. Drama je izvedena u oba hrvatska oblika: radijska drama prvi puta je emitirana 25.12.2012. na HR 3; scenska predstava prvi put je izvedena 23.01.2017. na Akademiji dramske umjetnosti Sveučilišta u Zagrebu kao ispit glume klase Medvešek.

 

Priča prati mladog dječaka dok napušta siromaštvo svog tradicionalnog seoskog doma da bi radio u tvornici tepiha. Životni preokreti vode ga da od šegrta osuđenog praktički na ropstvo u jednom azijskom gradu postane američki student, da bi se naposljetku iznova vratio korijenima. Iako se njegovo putovanje može činiti tragičnim, prisutna je nit vodilja koja ga u konačnici uzdiže.

Njezino je vodeće načelo kretanja prevođenje s jednog jezika na drugi, pri čemu svaka inačica suptilno mijenja i unaprjeđuje razvoj pjesme. Ovdje je predstavljena prva stranica od ukupno tri, zajedno s cjelovitim prijevodom engleskog teksta na hrvatski. 

 

 

From the Other Side, derived like The Carpet Weavers from a set of short stories, is a series of three plays dealing with the experience of a foreigner in a strange land. Their format is modelled on the Japanese Noh drama.

 

S one strane niz je sastavljen od tri drame koje se bave iskustvom stranca u neobičnoj zemlji. Oblikovane su po uzoru na format izveden iz japanske No drame.

 

 

The Prince and the Harvest Doll is a hybrid play for puppets and human actors. It takes its inspiration from the amphitheatre-like craters that were once used for agricultural production in Istria, Croatia.

 

Kraljević i žetvena lutka hibridna je predstava za lutke i ljude glumce. Nadahnuće crpi iz kratera nalik amfiteatru koji su se nekada koristili za poljoprivrednu proizvodnju u Istri u Hrvatskoj.

 

 

Wind Duos is a compilation of independent poems. Each poem is presented first in the original language and then in translation.

 

Dvopjevi za puhače kompilacija je neovisnih pjesama. Svaka pjesma predstavljena je najprije na izvornom jeziku, a zatim u prijevodu.

 

 

Pictures at a Travelling Exhibition presents a pair of short stories in which an anonymous narrator records scenes in an airport lounge at the beginning and end of a journey.

 

Slike s putujuće izložbe predstavlja par kratkih priča u kojima anonimni pripovjedač na početku i na kraju putovanja bilježi prizore u predvorju zračne luke.

 

 

Jedna noć u životu Anne Marie Andersen drama je usredotočena na majku Hansa Christiana Andersena, s motivima iz njegove biografije i priča „Nije bila nizašto“ i „Priča o majci“.

 

A Night in the Life of Anne Marie Andersen focuses on the mother of Hans Christian Andersen, with motifs drawn from his biography and the stories  “She was good for nothing” and “The Story of a Mother.”
